TIR erfreut: WBK des Nationalrats stimmt Importverbot für Delfine und Wale zu
Die vorberatende Kommission des Nationalrats hat sich gestern für ein Importverbot von Delfinen und Walen ausgesprochen. In einem Rechtsgutachten hatte die Stiftung für das Tier im Recht (TIR) vorgängig die Tierschutzrelevanz von Delfinarien und die Vereinbarkeit eines solchen Verbots mit der Bundesverfassung aufgezeigt.

Im März 2012 ist der Nationalrat einem Einzelantrag von Nationalrätin Isabelle Chevalley (GLP/VD) für ein Halteverbot von Delfinen und Walen gefolgt. Der Ständerat sprach sich anschliessend nicht für ein Halte-, sondern für ein Importverbot von sogenannten "Cetaceen" aus (siehe Newsmeldungen vom 13. März 2012 und vom 14. März 2012).
In einem Rechtsgutachten hierzu hat die TIR das erhebliche Leiden von Delfinen in Gefangenschaft herausgehoben und überdies belegt, dass ein Import- ebenso wie ein Halteverbot dieser Tiere mit der Bundesverfassung vereinbar wäre. Die Argumentation der TIR hat die WBK offensichtlich überzeugt: Sie hat sich klar für ein entsprechendes Importverbot ausgesprochen.
Diese Massnahme ist deshalb von Bedeutung, weil die Conny-Land-Inhaber
nicht gewillt sind, freiwillig auf die Anschaffung neuer Delfine zu
verzichten. Die TIR ist zuversichtlich, dass der Nationalrat dem
Beschluss seiner vorberatenden Kommission folgen wird und die
Gefangenschaftshaltung von Delfinen in der Schweiz bald der
Vergangenheit angehört.
