Privacy Policy
Scope
We are committed to a transparent handling of your personal data (hereinafter also referred to as “data”) as the protection of your privacy is important to us. With this data protection declaration, we inform you in detail about our data processing, regardless of whether you provide us with data electronically, by mail or phone.
The Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the corresponding ordinances apply. Any other provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by the European Union that may apply will be specifically referred to.

We process your personal data primarily for the purpose which was indicated or identifiable during its acquisition, for example for:
- sending you our newsletter ("Friendsmail”);
- answering your (legal) inquiry;
- collecting signatures in the context of petitions or initiatives;
- managing your donation or patronage;
- processing your order from our online shop,
- processing orders which were placed by phone or in writing
Additionally, we also process your data – within the framework of existing legislation – for marketing purposes in connection with:
- the provision of our products and services;
- your donation to TIR;
- business communication by mail, phone, email, voice messages, text messages (SMS) as well as further electronic means of communication;
- the analysis of the use of our offers (e.g. regarding the type, the frequency, the duration or the exact location of use) via phone, fax, email, text messages (SMS);
- the analysis of customer behavior.
Information from online forms
We collect the following data insofar as it is necessary to process your inquiry/order:
- information that you provide us with in order to become a benefactor of TIR;
- personal data such as first and last name, phone number, email address and postal address;
- animals kept;
- interest in animal welfare-related topics;
- payment information as a basis for our bookkeeping;
- information about our previous communication (correspondence, information material received, etc.);
- further data which we may receive from you in the course of the communication, such as job title, date of birth or other information (e.g. business relationship, degree of relationship), that we need so that we can execute an order (e.g. legal advice) or provide information tailored to your needs;
- as well as further information that we are legally obliged to collect.
Your data will be processed for the following purposes:
- to ensure that you receive the desired information or products that you have ordered by phone, in writing or via our online shop through your preferred channel of communication;
- to correct the errors or technical problems that you have reported;
- to provide you with legal information free of charge;
- to optimize our services such as our website, printed material or other information material and to be able to prepare reports;
- to ensure compliance with legal provisions and regulations;
- as well as to send out information and appeals for donations.
Information from online donations
TIR itself does not store payment data. Your payment data runs directly through RaiseNow, a partner certified by the credit card industry (PCI DSS). Our service providers may use the information exclusively to perform their tasks and are obliged to comply with the provisions of the Swiss data protection legislation. In addition, the terms and conditions and the data protection notice of the (respective) third party service providers apply, which can be accessed within the respective websites or transaction applications.
TIR newsletter "Friendsmail"
The data that you submit for the purpose of the Friendsmail subscription will be processed by our mailing service provider “MailChimp”, a newsletter distribution platform of the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. The email addresses of our recipients and other data described in this notice are stored on MailChimp’s servers in the USA. MailChimp uses the data to distribute and analyze the newsletter on our behalf. In addition, according to its own information, MailChimp may use the data to optimize or improve their own services e.g. for technical optimization of the distribution and presentation of the newsletter or for economic purposes, so that it can define which countries the recipients come from. However, MailChimp does not use the data of our recipients to write to them themselves or to pass them on to third parties. MailChimp is certified under the US-Swiss Data Protection Agreement "Privacy Shield" and is therefore committed to comply with EU data protection regulations. The processing of this data is based exclusively on your consent. You can revoke this consent at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the newsletter mail or by informing us about your revocation in another way. The data processing procedures that have already been carried out will not be affectedby the revocation.

We exclusively use this data (in anonymous form) for statistical evaluation for the purpose of operating and optimizing our website.
Transfer of data to third parties
If it should be necessary for the purposes stated in this privacy policy, we will transfer your data to trustworthy third parties. We do this primarily so that we can use technical or organizational services that we require to fulfill the purposes mentioned or our other business activities. In particular, we forward your contact information to shipping companies for the purpose of delivering products, our information letters or the magazine "Welt der Tiere" (World of Animals) and our TIR mailings.
Our service providers are obliged to process the personal data exclusively on our behalf and according to our instructions. The transferred data may be used by third parties exclusively for the purposes agreed on by contract.
Use of cookies and other tracking technologies
General information
We use "cookies” and comparable technologies on our website that can identify your browser or device. Cookies are small files that make it possible to store specific information related to the device on the user’s access device (PC, smartphone, etc.) On the one hand, they serve to increase the user-friendliness of websites. They thus serve the users (e.g. storing of login data). On the other hand, they serve to record statistical data on website usage and to analyze this data for the purpose of improving the offer.
You can influence the use of cookies. Most browsers have an option to limit or completely prevent the storage of cookies. You can manage many online ad cookies from companies on the US site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU site http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.
Please note that the use of certain functions on the TIR website may be limited or prevented if you refuse cookies of the website. In order to facilitate the use of the website, we recommend that you set your browser to accept cookies from our website.
Applied technologies
Our website uses the map service Google Maps via an API (interface). The provider is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (hereinafter "Google"). To use the functions of Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. TIR has no influence on this data transfer. The use of Google Maps is in the interest of making it easier for you to find our office and the associated library.

Google Analytics
For the purpose of designing our pages to meet your needs and for the continuous optimization of our pages and the design of personalized ads, we use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. Google Analytics uses text files, so-called "cookies", which are stored on the user's access device and which enable an analysis of the use of the website. The information created by the cookie about the use of our website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Advertising/Google Remarketing
We use Google Remarketing to be able to place banners and text ads that are targeted and tailored to the needs of our users. When you use our website, cookies and ad servers register your visit and your interest in specific products or services. By assigning the usage behavior of our website to a specific user, it is possible to display ads on external websites that correspond to the user’s interests at a later point in time.

Google Tag Manager
The Google Tag Manager is a service that allows marketers to manage website tags. The Tag Manager tool that implements the tags is a cookie-free domain and does not collect any personal data. The tool triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If disabled at the domain or cookie level, it will remain disabled for all tracking tags implemented by the Google Tag Manager.

Data Security
We process, store and secure your data on servers that are protected by physical and technical security measures. These include enhanced firewall and password protection for our databases, physical access controls for our buildings, offices and records, and access to your data limited to our employees and external partners who need to know that information to provide, maintain or improve our services.

Storage period and deletion
We store personal data for as long as you have given us your consent to do so, as long as it is necessary for the processing of the corresponding order or as long as it is legally required (usually ten years).

You can receive information free of charge about your data stored with us and assert your right to correct or limit the processing of your data as well as to block or delete it. Please contact our organization under the contact details listed above. If you wish to object to the collection, processing or use of your data by TIR in accordance with this privacy policy, either as a whole or for individual measures, you can also send your objection by email or mail to the above-mentioned addresses at any time.
If the data is required for the fulfilment of a contract or for the execution of pre-contractual measures, an early deletion of the data is only possible if no contractual or legal obligations prevent a deletion.
If TIR fails to comply with applicable data protection legislation, you have the right to file a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
