TIR presents Swiss premiere of "Food for Profit"
On 21 March 2024, the Swiss premiere of "Food for Profit", presented by the Foundation for the Animal in the Law (TIR), took place at the sold-out Frame cinema in Zurich. The documentary film by Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D'Ambrosi impressively discloses the interrelations between the dairy and meat industries, lobbying and political power in Europe. TIR looks back on an impressive, memorable evening and would like to thank Giulia Innocenzi and the 200 invited guests.

The Italian journalist Giulia Innocenzi became known as a political commentator and television presenter in various media formats before turning her attention to investigative topics. She and her team spent five years working on "Food for Profit", which premiered at the European Parliament in Brussels in February 2024. The documentary criticises intensive farming (factory farming), which receives massive financial support from the EU almost everywhere in Europe. Together with an international team of experts conducting undercover research, Innocenzi impressively highlights the main problems of this industrial production method: Animal suffering, water pollution, exploitation of migrant workers, loss of biodiversity as well as the dangers posed by the use of antibiotics and the development of genetically modified organisms. The film concludes with a clear and direct call to action to put an end to these abuses. In particular, the film calls for an end to state subsidies for factory farming.
Following the film screening, experts from the meat and egg industry and
animal welfare discussed the parallels and differences between "Food
for Profit" and conditions in Switzerland. Participants in the lively
panel discussion were Meinrad Pfister (farmer and entrepreneur at
Pfiroporcs GmbH), Daniel Würgler (President of Gallo Suisse), Meret
Schneider (Project Manager Campaign Forum), Tobias Sennhauser (Tier im
Fokus TIF) and TIR lawyer Dr Vanessa Gerritsen. The event was moderated
by Salar Bahrampoori from Swiss television SRF.
It was a great honour for TIR to organise the Swiss premiere of "Food for Profit". We would like to thank Giulia Innocenzi, who travelled to Zurich especially for the event, and all those present for a very exciting and successful evening. We are convinced that the film will make an important contribution to educating the public about the connections between the meat and dairy industry, political decision-makers and lobbyists.
